Spousal & Family Sponsorship: ​As a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, age eighteen or above, one can sponsor certain members of your family if you wish for them to come to Canada and become permanent residents. Canadian Citizens or permanent resident of Canada who are eligible sponsors can sponsor spouse, common law or conjugal partner and dependent children for permanent residence in Canada. The Spousal Sponsorship application process is somehow a long process. This is due to the fact that it roughly takes 12 months, start to end. This means that it can take longer in particular cases. Applicants for parents’ sponsorship are currently chosen via lottery under this program.
